The Hanover Insurance Group, Inc. (NYSE: THG), a leading super regional property and casualty company, today announced that it will offer policyholders with identity theft coverage free access to an identity theft resolution service should they fall victim to such a crime.
Through a partnership with CyberScout, a leader in identity theft victim resolution and education, the company will offer the complimentary service to policyholders who purchase The Hanover’s low cost, identity fraud endorsement to the company’s homeowners’ product*. The Hanover’s Identity Fraud Endorsement offers up to $25,000 of coverage to pay resolution expenses incurred by insureds as the result of identity fraud.
“With database breaches at an all-time high, identity theft is one of the fastest growing crimes in the country,” said Jim Hyatt, personal lines president at The Hanover. “Because of the emotional and financial impact identity theft can take on an individual and their family, we thought it was important to offer a service in addition to the fraud endorsement that would help our customers if they fall victim to such an unfortunate situation.”
The free service offers a personal advocate who will work with the insured from start-to-finish to restore their identity, as well as:
Systematic notification to credit bureaus, creditors and collectors, government agencies, and all other relevant parties
- Assistance with all phone calls and preparation of documents needed to resolve the identity theft
- A full year of weekly credit monitoring for victims of true identity theft
- A full year of threat alerts, proactive tips, education, and follow-up calls to help avoid recurrence
Beyond the identity theft resolution service, The Hanover’s Identity Fraud Endorsement coverage includes lost earnings resulting from court appearances, meetings with lawyers and/or creditors; reasonable fees for covered common legal issues associated with identity theft; and preparation of notarized documents, records and affidavits for credit bureaus, financial institutions and law enforcement agencies.
“We are looking forward to working with The Hanover to provide its policyholders with this important service,” said Steven Christenson, co-founder and president, of CyberScout. “Now the company’s insured can live with the comfort that—if faced with this complicated issue—there is a service in place that can help them quickly and efficiently reach a resolution.”
The Hanover’s Identity Fraud Endorsement and CyberScout service complement its world class personal lines product suite, which includes Connections Home, a unique homeowners product that provides competitive coverage packages; Connections Auto, a highly successful multi-variate product, as well as the company’s umbrella policy.
